Welcome to CGC Prep Academy at KraftyK9! ​

"The AKC Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) program provides a perfect framework for training your dog to become a polite member of society. Based on you and your dog’s training needs, you have multiple options to get started."

Our CGC prep program consists of 4 classes with focused curriculum. Each class is designed to cover specific parts of the CGC test. We have lots of different games, tips and tricks to help you practice and successfully complete the CGC test.

 

It is likely that if everyone in the class is ready, the test can be administered during class! If teams are not ready to test, we can always schedule a test once the class is complete and you've had ample time to practice skills.

**pre-requisites: to fully benefit from our CGC prep course, it is highly recommended that dogs take a basic manners or puppy class before this class.**​​​​

Created by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the CGC test evaluates your dog’s ability to demonstrate basic obedience skills and polite behavior in real-world situations. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your bond with your dog, improve their social skills, or simply enjoy a well-behaved companion, the CGC program is a fantastic way to achieve these goals.​​​

  • Appearance and Light Grooming by a Stranger

  • Heel Work Games for Loose Leash Walking​

  • Stationary Positions (for 20-Foot Stay)

  • Practicing the Formality of Test Items

  • Coming When Called

  • Utilizing Games to Enhance Stationary Positions

  • Reaction to Another Dog

  • Supervised Separation

  • Reaction to Distractions
